Posy’s Fairay Ballet
By Steve Cleverley and Sanj Sen
Snuggle down, close your eyes, cosy up and relax. Tonight we’re visiting an enchanted woodland kingdom, hidden somewhere in the world of Moshi, to meet Posy, a shy but very talented little fairy ballerina who dreams of being on stage.
Dancing, dancing with the fairies
Dreams can come true
Dancing, dancing with the fairies
This dream’s for you
Somewhere in the Moshi world, beyond the Sparkly Prairies
There lies a magic forest filled with little Moshling fairies
They live in tiny nooks and crannies, way up in the trees
And flutter round as twinkly music dances on the breeze
Moshling Fairies love to dance, they practice every day
From arabesques and pirouettes – it’s all about ballet
You see them on their tippy-toes, performing ‘pas de chat’
If ballet’s your obsession, then this forest’s where it’s at
Tonight a little fairy is in her treetop home
Her music box is tinkling while she practices alone
This fairy’s name is Posy, a gifted ballerina
But nerves and lack of confidence mean no one’s really seen her

This year, the Fairy King and Queen have organised a show
A twilight ballet held beneath the moon’s beguiling glow
All the fairy ballerinas want the starring role
But Posy’s scared to tryout, so she takes an evening stroll
As she wanders through the woods she dreams of being a star
And wishes she could bid her pesky shyness ‘au revoir’
“I’d love to dance before the King and Queen, just once,” she mutters
“But when I see an audience my tummy stirs and flutters”
Just then a Wonky Wizard appears in front of Posy
“Hello” he says, “I’m Hocus, please don’t think I’m being nosy…
I couldn’t help but hear you say you’d really love to dance
Perhaps you’ll let me give your hopes and dreams a fighting chance”

Posy smiles at Hocus and says “Thank you,” with a sigh
“But nothing you can do will help… you see, I’m far too shy
I know I’m good, but when I see an audience I freeze…
My legs feel like spaghetti and I go weak at the knees”
Hocus clicks his fingers and a little box appears
“Try these on,” he whispers, “They should help to quell your fears”
Posy opens up the box, confused by what’s inside
“They’re ballet shoes,” says Hocus, “And a whole lot more besides”
“I’ve cast a little spell upon them, try them and you’ll see…
They’ll make your shyness disappear, of that I guarantee”
Posy puts the shoes on… and doesn’t feel a thing
But then she feels the urge to dance before her Queen and King

Posy finds the theatre where auditions will be held
Her pirouettes are perfect ‘cos her confidence has swelled
She wows the fairy experts and receives the starring role
(It seems the shoes have helped to keep her nerves under control)
Posy and her fairy company practice every day
This show is set to be a most spectacular ballet
The Moshiphonic Orchestra has flown in from afar
And daisy chains spell Posy’s name to say that she’s the star
Rehearsals all go splendidly and showtime starts to loom
So Posy takes a pre-show nap beneath the silvery moon
She snuggles by a toadstool and eases off her shoes
And dreams of her performance getting wonderful reviews
Dancing, dancing with the fairies
Dreams can come true

Posy wakes up feeling calm, ready for the show
She starts to stretch and limber up, there’s not much time to go
She reaches for her magic shoes… but no, they’ve disappeared
They’re not beneath the toadstool, this is everything she feared
She rushes to the theatre and peers out through the curtain
The crowd is truly massive, it’s a sell out that’s for certain
The King and Queen are seated in the royal box on the right
Yet even though she’s nervous, Posy feels tonight’s her night
Even so, she can’t go on without her magic shoes
She can’t believe she took them off before her little snooze
She jetés to her dressing room and there upon a chair
Sits Hocus with some ballet shoes, but not the magic pair

Posy says “Those shoes look like my old ones, they’re not magic
If I wear them this evening, my performance will be tragic”
“Don’t be silly” Hocus laughs, ‘Those magic shoes weren’t real
I said they were enchanted just to help the way you feel…
“Confidence and self-esteem, they both come from within
And nervousness is natural, but you can’t let jitters win
You won this starring role because quite simply, you’re the best
The thought of magic footwear, that’s what helped you beat the stress”
Posy hears the audience cheer, the overture’s begun
“Come on Posy,” Hocus pleads, “Performing should be fun”
She grabs her shoes from Hocus and heads towards the wings
As Moshling violinists conjure magic with their strings
Posy takes the centre stage just as the house lights dim
A single spotlight picks her out, and now she must begin
She strikes a pose on tippy-toes, then skips and pirouettes
As far as grace and poise go, it’s as good as ballet gets
When the show is over, the lights reveal the crowd
And Posy gasps a “Thank you” but the cheering’s far too loud
The stage is strewn with bouquets thrown by giddy Posy fans
Who flap their wings in sheer delight and clap their fairy hands
The King and Queen are on their feet, with Hocus by their side
And Posy smiles and curtsies, as they gaze at her with pride
See Posy’s not just any dancer, looking to impress
This graceful fairy’s actually their daughter, the Princess
Goodnight and sweet dreams.
