Lubber and the Sub Zero Hero
By Steve Cleverley/Sanj Sen
Hello. Tonight we’re voyaging to the Frostipop Glacier, a remote and endangered part of the world of Moshi, to meet Lubber, a Whimsical Whale, and Otto, a Sub-Zero Hero. So snuggle down, cosy up and relax.
A song for the world, a heartfelt plea
A song for the world, to save our sea
Lubber is a Moshling whale who lives beneath the sea
He’s heard about the melting ice cap, just like you and me
He wonders if there might be ways to stop the ice cap shrinking
Cos temperatures are rising and the ocean floor is sinking
He’s going on a journey to try and find out more
To learn why this is happening and see what lies in store
See Lubber has a lot of pals who know about this stuff
And the ones who it affects the most have finally had enough
The glacier known as Frostipop’s an ideal place to start
It’s slowly melting, causing it to crack and break apart
So Lubber swims beneath it, then pops up through a hole
And spots a little Moshling with a high-tech fishing pole
A song for the world, a heartfelt plea
A song for the world, to save our sea
“Don’t worry,” the explorer says, “Please stay nice and calm…
I’m trying to help the Moshi world and I mean you no harm”
Lubber says “Hello,” and the explorer shakes his fin
Then says, “My name is Otto, now where should I begin?”
Otto says to Lubber “I’m trying to save the ice…
All Moshlings need to listen up and follow my advice
Our world is getting warmer, each year by one degree
My fishing pole is never wrong… look, climb up here and see”
Lubber clambers on the ice and Otto gently smiles
The fishing pole is loaded with all kinds of knobs and dials
Otto says, “This special pole can measure lots of things…
From temperature and pressure to the way a whale pod sings”
A song for the world, a heartfelt plea
A song for the world, to save our sea
Just in case you’re wondering, a pod’s a group of whales
And when they’re all together, their whale song never fails…
… to mesmerise and captivate listeners of all kinds
And sometimes even open up the narrowest of minds
Otto says to Lubber, “You’re just the kind of whale
Who needs to spread the word about this global warming fail
You have to tell world that all this melting ice is wrong
Please do it with your friends using the power of your song”
Lubber knows that Otto’s right and starts to hum a tune
Then says “I’ll gather all my pals and see you very soon”
Suddenly the glacier shifts and Otto nearly falls
But yells, “I’ll know you’ve triumphed when I hear your sweet whale calls”
A song for the world, a heartfelt plea
A song for the world, to save our sea
As Lubber dives back in the ocean, Otto’s now alone
The brave explorer waves and then walks into the unknown
He needs to do more tests and measure changes in the ice
But the glacier’s now collapsing so this isn’t very wise
Meanwhile way beneath the surface, Lubber asks his friends
To help him sing a tune to force the world to make amends
For many days and many nights they swim from sea to sea
Their tuneful message wrapped within a peaceful melody
It’s filled with lots of guidance about how to halt the thaw
By planting trees, recycling stuff and walking more and more
This soothing whale song message soon becomes a global motto
But Lubber can’t relax because he’s worried about Otto
A song for the world, a heartfelt plea
A song for the world, to save our sea
Once the whales have done their work, Lubber swims away
He wants to see how Otto is, to make sure he’s okay
But when he finds the glacier, it’s slipped beneath the sea
So Lubber sings his song once more, this time a desperate plea
Searching through the ocean. Lubber spots a spots a chunk of ice
And as he swims towards it, he can’t believe his eyes
The icy chunk is rising, getting bigger all the time
And on its peak a fishing pole is propping up a sign
The sign says, “Thanks for all your help, it’s good to work together
And if we all act sensibly our world will last forever
I used some special Moshi science to bring this glacier back
And thanks to your melodic song our climate’s back on track”
A song for the world, a heartfelt plea
A song for the world, to save our sea
As Lubber reads the message, he starts to fear the worse
Then notices that Otto’s written more on the reverse
He turns the sign around, then starts to cry and blubber
“This fishing pole’s for you my friend, farewell to you, dear Lubber”
By now the glacier’s fully formed, it’s cracks have all but healed
But Lubber feels upset by what the note has just revealed
He wonders if his friend is lost, or if he’s gone for good?
Or if he’s helping others in a distant neighbourhood
As time goes by, Lubber learns to use the special rod
And tries to find the footprints in the snow where Otto trod
But mostly Lubber sings his song while carrying out more tests
To make the world a better place for all its future guests
The temperature in Frostipop now hovers close to zero
Partly thanks to Lubber… and a very special hero
Perhaps one day they’ll meet again, and sing the special song
That taught the world to show more love and stand forever strong
Goodnight…
