How Moshi Works
Studies show that a good night’s sleep is crucial for your child’s development. Sleep boosts energy levels, improves memory, increases concentration, and promotes overall physical health.
Moshi helps kids of all ages fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and wake up less. In a recent study*, scientists at New York University discovered that on average, when using Moshi:
– Kids fall asleep 28 minutes faster
– Kids sleep for 22 minutes longer
– Night wakings decrease by up to 50%
*30 children over 10 days, NYU Langone, August 2020
Our mission
We’re striving to make kids all over the world healthier and happier. Our Stories and Meditations are just the beginning of our ongoing mission to help kids sleep better and teach them the basics of mindfulness. A little bit of magic goes a long way when it comes to improving kids’ mental fitness, so what better place to start than in the enchanting world of Moshi.
How it helps
Comforting and calming
Most of our bedtime stories are gentle rhyming journeys with dreamy lullaby-style choruses. Musical transitions are specifically designed to be mesmerizing. As each story progresses the narration becomes increasingly sleepy, ambient sounds diminish and backing tracks fade.
Sleepy and soothing
Musical loops continue for several minutes once each story ends, before gently fading to avoid sudden silence. Many stories feature ambient white noise, from vacuuming and distant lawnmowers to washing machines and lapping waves.
Grounded in science
Convolution reverb is sometimes used to create a dreamy effect. Some of our bedtime stories even replicate low-frequency oscillations in the theta range, similar to Tibetan prayer bowls. Our meditations are based on the principles of cognitive behavioural therapy to help children manage negative thoughts.
Endorsed by experts
“At the end of the bedtime routine parents have to leave the room and allow kids to learn to fall asleep alone, which is why an audio app like Moshi can help bridge the gap. It gives the child something pleasant to focus on, carrying them away into a fantasy story world, allowing their body’s natural fatigue to take over and help them fall asleep.”

“When parents turn out the lights and leave the room, children often struggle to settle on their own. Moshi can help to calm children and create a greater sense of peace and inner safety through its audio stories that do not require the use of a screen.”

“Toddlers and children often do anything to fight bedtime. Not only will this app help to relax their overactive minds, at the same time it will encourage them to daydream in a state of relaxation, which is a well-known way to promote sleep.”
